Privacy Policy
What we collect through this website, why, and the choices you have. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
- We collect only what you give us: an email address if you subscribe, and your name, organization, and message if you write to us.
- We use it to reply to you and to send the updates you asked for. Nothing else.
- We do not sell your information, we run no advertising, and this site sets no cookies and uses no trackers.
- You can unsubscribe, or ask us to correct or delete what we hold, at any time.
1. Who we are
The PurEarth Foundation (“the Foundation”, “we”) is a nonprofit organization. This policy covers information collected through purearthfoundation.org (“the site”). It does not cover the websites of our sister companies, PurEarth and PurHealth, or of the Stichting Chardet Foundation, each of which has its own privacy policy.
Questions about this policy or about your information can be sent to [email address], by post to [postal address], or through the contact form on this site.
2. Information you give us
We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it:
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Contact form: your name, your email address, your organization if you include it, the kind of organization you represent, and your message.
- Correspondence: anything you include when you email or write to us.
We ask only for what we need to respond. Submissions pass through automated spam filtering before they reach us. Please do not send sensitive information through the site, such as health details, financial account numbers, or government identification numbers.
3. Information collected automatically
When you visit, our hosting provider records standard server logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the date and time, and the page that referred you. These logs are used to keep the site secure and running, are kept for a limited period under the provider’s retention policy, and are not used by us to identify individual visitors.
This site does not use cookies, analytics services, advertising pixels, or social-media plug-ins. Its fonts, styles, and scripts are served from our own hosting, so no third-party service loads in your browser. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy first and use a configuration that respects your privacy.
4. How we use your information
We use the information you provide:
- To reply to your inquiry and, where appropriate, to follow up.
- To send you the newsletter you subscribed to. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Our legal grounds
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another place whose law requires a legal basis for processing, ours are: your consent, for the newsletter; our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries and keeping the site secure; and compliance with legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only:
- With service providers that process it on our behalf under contract: our hosting and form provider, Netlify, Inc. (United States), and, for the newsletter, our email delivery provider, [email service provider]. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
- With our sister companies or partners only if you ask us to put you in touch with them.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Foundation, our visitors, or others.
- If the Foundation’s operations are transferred to a successor organization, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
7. How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. We then keep a minimal record so that we do not email you again by mistake.
Inquiries are kept for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a record of our correspondence, and no longer than necessary for those purposes. We review stored submissions regularly and delete what we no longer need.
8. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue, or by contacting us.
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct or delete it, or to restrict or object to how we use it.
To make a request, contact us using the details in section 1. We may need to verify your identity, and we respond within thirty days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the rights described above under California law; we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. Because this site does not track visitors, browser “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals require no action on our part.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under sixteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to form submissions is limited to people who need it to respond, and our providers maintain their own security programs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us.
11. Visitors outside the United States
The Foundation is based in the United States, and the information you provide is processed and stored there. Our providers commit to safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses where they apply. By using the site, you understand that your information will be handled in the United States.
12. Links to other websites
The site links to other websites, including those of PurEarth, PurHealth, and the Stichting Chardet Foundation. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them.
13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.
14. Contact
Write to us at [email address], by post at [postal address], or through the contact form on this site.
