Our approach

The Sovereign Loop

A self-sustaining system where the output of one part becomes the input for the next.

The Sovereign Loop brings established technologies together into one integrated system, shaped around each community’s land, climate, and priorities. It is designed to restore the environment, create local livelihoods, and help communities become more self-reliant.

Why we call it sovereign.

Because a community’s water, power, and food should not hinge on a distant grid or a fragile supply chain. Sovereignty, as we use the word, means resilience: the capacity of a place to meet its own essential needs, on its own terms.

Each part feeds the next. Together, they grow stronger over time.

Three principles

Three principles guide every Loop.

Restore the essentials

Clean water, clean energy, and nourishing food come first. Everything else builds on them.

Close the loop

What one system leaves behind becomes a resource for another.

Keep value local

Jobs, skills, and benefits stay in the community that makes the Loop work.

Seven solution areas

Seven solution areas. Clear roles in each.

Every area combines infrastructure built and run by public and private partners with initiatives led by the Foundation.

Clean EnergyReliable power, matched to place.

Foundation-ledCommunity energy planning and technical training.
Clean WaterWater security, produced locally.
Partner-ledAtmospheric water generation, heat-to-water systems, and rainwater harvesting.
Foundation-ledWater access for schools, clinics, and households in need.
Regenerative FoodFresh, nutrient-dense food, all year.
Partner-ledControlled-environment agriculture, aquaponics, and aquaculture, led by PurEarth.
Foundation-ledNutrition education and community food access.
Sustainable MaterialsRenewable crops, lasting products.
Partner-ledHemp-based building materials, bioplastics, fuels, and plant protein.
Foundation-ledWorkforce training.
Community InfrastructureThe backbone of a resilient town.
Partner-ledCommunity-scale data centers powered by clean energy, efficient housing, EV charging, and cleaner fuels.
Foundation-ledCommunity planning and resilience for essential public facilities.
People & ProsperityOpportunity that stays close to home.
Partner-ledLocal hiring and local manufacturing.
Foundation-ledScholarships, school programs, and technical certification.
Health & Well-BeingThe other side of the loop.
Partner-ledHealth services from PurHealth and other licensed providers.
Foundation-ledCommunity health education and research collaborations.

We use established technologies through trusted partners. The Foundation doesn’t manufacture them.

How the parts connect

How the parts connect.

  1. 1Clean energy powers water generation, food production, and local industry.
  2. 2Where geothermal or other sources produce extra capacity, it can support community-scale data centers, and their heat can help warm greenhouses and produce water.
  3. 3Greenhouses and aquaculture grow food, and their organic byproducts become fertilizer and renewable fuel.
  4. 4Hemp and other renewable crops become building materials and other durable products.
  5. 5Training and local hiring turn every new system into careers.

Established parts. A new whole.

The technologies in the Loop are established and in use around the world. What’s new is bringing them together into one system designed to work as a whole, and measuring, openly, what that integration achieves.

See it in practice

See the Loop take shape.

In each partnership region, public partners, private partners, and Foundation initiatives come together around one plan.
